The Wild Robot 7/22-7/29

Try to get caught up by reading chapters 32-50 and then try your best to get to Chapter 60.

Review these questions from last week:

1. What do you notice about how the animals are responding to Roz? How are their attitudes changing? What lesson can you learn from their actions? (Ch 32 & 33)

2. How does the garden start to change Roz’s life? (Ch 34)

3. What are your first impressions of Chitchat? Do you think he will make a good friend for Brightbill? Why or why not? Would you like him as a friend (Ch 37)?

4. Roz and Brightbill had many questions about the mysterious ship, but no answers. Try to answer…where did the ship come from? Where was it going? Who was on board? Can you think of any other questions about the ship?

If we get through these, we will go on to discuss these questions:

See you Wednesday at noon!   MC 😃

Summer Reading Club 7/15-7/22/20

This week, we will read Chapters 35-50 of The Wild Robot and answer the following discussion questions:

On Wednesday, we will zoom at noon!

The Wild Robot Ch 6,7,8,9 and 10

Once again, here are the questions:

1.  How did Roz end up on the island?

2.    Describe Roz.  Once she enters the world, what emotion does she feel?  How would you feel if you were Roz?

3.    “Animal sounds filled the forest. Chirps and wingbeats and rustlings in the underbrush. And then, from the sea cliffs, there came new sounds. Heavy, crunching footsteps. The forest animals fell silent, and from their hiding places they watched as a sparkling monster stomped past.” (p. 16) – Describe what the animals must be thinking.

4.    The book continues on to state “the forest was not comfortable place for Roz.”  What makes the forest a difficult place for Roz?  How must she adapt?

See you Wednesday at Noon (12:00pm). 🤖MC

Please read with your child and comment that you agree to these norms.

1. We will read the assigned chapters each week( beginning on Thursday) and complete before the next book club meeting.

2. We will write our answer to the questions of the week and send a picture our response to Ms. Cullen.

3. In our responses, we will use our best neat printing, correct finger spacing between words, capitalization, punctuation and watch our word usage. We will make sure our name is at the top of the page.

4. We will participate in the Book Club Meeting every Wednesday at noon until August 12th. We will message Ms. Cullen if we can’t be there.

5. I will read the book to you and post it over the weekend but first you must read through the chapters on your own. This will help you stengthen your reading ability. If you see a word you don’t know, mark the word in your book,  use your strategies posted below and then ask for help.

Last Day of School 2020 – 6/17/20

I cannot believe we have made it all the way here!

The last day of 3rd grade for you (and for me too!)

What a strange year it has been!

Thank you to all my students! In each of your own ways, you tried to keep the learning going! I understand it was a struggle for some depending on their living situations and technology support.

BIG SHOUT OUT to all the parents – you didn’t sign up to be teachers ( Parenting is difficult enough! – just ask my three children!)

SPECIAL HUGS TO SOME MOMS OUT THERE – Raein’s Mom, Jayanna’s Mom, Aziz’s Mom and Khloe’s Mom. Thank you for being my “technology testers and support line” as I tried to navigate “virtual teaching”!

HUGE AMOUNTS OF LOVE to my Lifesize students that always showed up for the class meetings! Raein, Demoine, Jayanna, Aziz, and Khloe.

MORE HIGH FIVES for the CLEVER students who took the time to log on and get lots of work done- Jenziel, Khloe, Jayanna, Za’Niah, Shilynn, Raein, Demoine, Aziz and Mikhail!

I will miss all of you over the summer and you know, Ms. Cullen hates good-byes so our 3rd and 4th grade Virtual Book Club will begin on Wednesday, July 1st. Tell you friends, tell your brothers and sisters, tell your cousins and neighbors – everyone is welcome to our free Book Club. Share this link and sign up before 7/1/2020!

Good Afternoon Room 289!

We’re counting down the days until Wednesday! Last day of school and last Class Meeting at 11:30am.

These programs should be worked on throughout the summer to keep your brain in shape. Also, it is expected, upon entering 4 the Grade , you will have memorized your multiplication facts!

Remember tomorrow is Field Day!

Have a beautiful afternoon! 🌟MC

Sunday’s Important Information!

Pax – we are running out of time !

Bee Store FINAL Totals:

Have a great night! 🌗 MC

Finally Friday!

Hello my friends!

Since I have been working at school this week, I miss you even more than before! The room is so quiet without your voices!

I miss unzipping Jayanna out of her coat! I miss Raein coming in with his latest snack for lunch and “testing” it before we put it away! I miss Aziz coming in to tell me the latest car that he saw and why it’s so cool! I miss Demoine coming in and happily saying “Good Morning” to everyone! I miss Khloe and her quiet mornings before she woke up! I could go one and on…

Here’s another chapter of Pax so you will have something to do over the weekend! LOL!

You can also log on to Core5 and Mobymax. The minutes you spend on there should continue throughout the summer to keep you in good practice for 4th grade!

Thanks for joining me at the class meeting this morning! We will have one last “official” class meeting next Wednesday! You have to decide by then if you want to be part of our Virtual Summer Book Club by next Wednesday. I’m hoping you will join me!
