Another Fun Friday and Get Organized Day!

Hello my friends!

I hope we have more of you joining our class on this virtual learning adventure! Yesterday, we had some successes in Schoology and some problems so we are going to take a step back for next week. I will post the lessons to the blog and add only a couple of worksheets in Schoology. We can see if that is more successful!

Let me know how you like learning in this crazy school -at- home!

For FUN today, your job is to create a mammal animal showdown. WHAT is an mammal animal showdown? Watch this one between cats and dogs as an example:

Animal Showdown

So for today, you pick two mammals and find some information about them. Here’s a page to research them:

mammal research and find out:

How tall are they?

How much do they weigh?

What would they eat?

What makes them special?

Here’s a page to help organize your showdown

Then, decide their showdown – who is the scariest, who is the cutest, who is the highest climber, you can pick one that they will battle over.

Post the two animals that were in your showdown, what the battle was, who won, and why.

I picked a squirrel against a monkey. They battled over who was the best climber. I chose the squirrel because they can climb higher in the trees than the monkey!

Our One Step At A Time assignment for today is

Logging in Clever. You will need the student’s 902# and their password. I sent that by ClassDojo but just send me another message if you need it again!

Have a great weekend! See you Monday!  ❣️MC

Happy Tuesday Afternoon!

PLEASE NOTE: There are some compatibility issues with Clever and Newsela. The articles are still not showing up. If someone could try this link and let me know if it works. Otherwise I will change platforms. thanks 😊

I spent the morning talking to all the grade 3 teachers to plan for your next few weeks of learning at home. Since iPads can be picked up on 4/22, I’m hoping we will get some more students to participate with us!

This week, we will continue your hard work on Mobymax and Lexia Core5. I am adding to that an assignment on Clever in the Newsela app. The assignment is called Day1. There are articles to read and activities on the right to complete.

Please do your best job getting these finished today because tomorrow, we will do Day 2.

Anyone who completes all the assignments will be entered in a raffle for next week! Let’s see who will win.

I am  moved beyond words by your commitment to your child’s learning!

Now,,for the fun part. Following is a list of steps to do to be able to do the most good in your child’s virtual learning. You need to be comfortable on the first step before moving on to the 2nd, comfortable on the 2nd step before moving onto The third, and so on.

When you  come to a step that you are having difficulty with, please message or call me so I can help. Please do not stress, we will just take it one step at a time!

My goal is to have most of the students working digitally by May 1st. I know we have approx. 8 students completing some form of digital work right now which is great! We need to all be able to get to your work in Schoology. That is our final goal!

Steps to becoming a virtual student

1. I can connect to some type of internet/hot spot in order to sign on to the BPS network.

2. I can go to CLEVER app and log in. Clever let’s you do many different programs without having to login to each one.

3. In Clever, I can login to MobyMax and practice work on the math tab and science tab.

4. In Clever, I can go to Lexia Core5 and get on my level.

5 In Clever, I can go to Schoology and find my Grade 3 Homeroom COURSE. In my course, I can see my Assignments. I can complete an assignment and   submit it to Ms. Cullen. I can see the work that is returned and graded.

THAT’S it! Phew! Technology is a beast! As I said one step at a time and please refer to this list for help where you are stuck.

Today’s Step –  Finding your internetLet me know if you have problems. Thanks

Last two items for today:

1. There are assignments in Schoology if you can access them.

2. We are having a virtual bee store – see ad below
