Good Morning! I’m so sorry I had to postpone our class talk. My computer has been having some technical trouble that I’m trying to get fixed. As soon as I’m back on using my computer, I will reschedule the class meeting. Thank you for being patient!
Our Mobymax trophy this week goes to Aziz! Congratulations! Aziz is back on top and no one was even close in minutes to his work! Let’s see if we can get everyone completing their minutes on Mobymax and Lexia this week!
We’re going to continue reading Pax. I thought it would be interesting to find out a little more about foxes.

It’s funny because my son’s dog does that same pounce into the couch when her toy has gotten between the cushions!

Today we will be looking at what are rocks:
and also what is soil:
Now go to Mobymax Science to practice what you learned. Find the lessons about rocks and soil in your assignments and work on these, please.
Math
Your assignment is a worksheet on perimeter and area. Remember, to find perimeter, you add the side lengths of the polygon. Area is all the space inside the figure. To calculate area of a rectangle, you multiply one side length times the other side length and the answer is in square units.
For example: Look at this rectangle:
To find the perimeter, we would count the side lengths. These are in feet. Across the top is 5, down the side if 4, across the bottom is 5 and back up is 4 so 5+4+5+4 = 18 ft.
To find the area, we would take one side(top or bottom)and multiply it by the other side (left or right). So 5 ft. X 4 ft = 20 square feet. Count the squares, is that correct? Yes, it is.

You all have beautiful brains that can take you anywhere you want to go…you just need to practice and use your noggin!
Please remember to log in to our class meeting at 11:00am. It would be good if you have listened to the first chapter of Pax since we will be discussing.
I hope you enjoyed a nice few days off from virtual school! It sure does feel like summer all of a sudden!
Can you believe there’s only about 3 weeks left for school this year?
This week we will begin our last I.B. unit called How We Express Ourselves. In this unit we will look at lots of clues that people have left on our planet that tells how they lived here. What kind of evidence will you leave on this planet?
Instead of the Journey’s Story, we will read a novel together called Pax by Sarah Pennypacker. I will post each chapter and it will be your job to read it or listen to me reading it. It’s a wonderful story about a boy and a pet fox. Read

You have all been working so hard to continue your education in these weird times that you deserve a break!
Take these next four days to recharge, give yourself a pat on the back for your super work, give your parents a hug for all their help, and enjoy this weekend! Then Tuesday, we work until school’s over in about three weeks!
Good Morning! It was great to see some of my kiddos on Lifesize yesterday for our class meeting! Everyone agreed that we would rather drink sour milk than brush our teeth with soap! Hahaha! I hope YOU can join us next Wednesday at 11:00 for our next meeting! We will be having a special guest join us! Shhhh! It’s a secret!
Today, you just have a few things to finish up and you can get outside for some fresh air ( if Mom says it’s ok!)!
Lets think about what this question is asking. The question is about a character. Who is the character?
They want to know how his feelings change from the beginning to the end. What feelings? His feelings about the island. Now answer the questions in the graphic organizer to help you construct your response.
Once we have identified how he felt, we can use what he said or did as the evidence.
For example:
At the beginning of the story, Manu felt___________ about the island. I know this because he said”_________________” . At the end, his feelings changed and he felt ______________. I know this because he (did or said) ________________. Manu’s feelings changed from the beginning to the end because _______________________. I know this because ___________ ( insert your evidence, your why). In conclusion, Manu ___________(restate the question).

Now Look at this picture of a glacier. A glacier is a Slowly moving mass of ice formed by lots of snow being compacted (squished) together.
This glacier is getting smaller. Each line shows a different year’s measurement. Use a ruler ( if you have one) or make a ruler with a piece of paper folded in equal pieces. Measure the four different color line from the middlemof the glacier. Write them on your lab and answer the questions:
Bonjour mes petites! Today is class meeting day at 11:00. Everyone please join us for an hour of talking and fun ( with some learning and silliness thrown in)!

We will be finishing this unit about connections where we have been focusing on how all living things depend on each other. To finish, we will look at Polar bears and tigers that live in the arctic. As people create pollution, you may have heard that we are causing global warming. Our experiment will look at how a small temperature change in the world affects many, many things.
Today, you will learn about polar bears. We will discuss this more at our class meeting.
Today is Tuesday so that means tomorrow is Wednesday! I get to actually see you in our class meeting! So make sure you’re awake because it’s going to be an exciting day of ‘Would you rather?’
Here’s a question to get you warmed up:
Would you rather float every time you tried to jump or jump every time you tried to walk?
