Thursday Thrills 5/28/20

Good Morning! I’m so sorry I had to postpone our class talk. My computer has been having some technical trouble that I’m trying to get fixed. As soon as I’m back on using my computer, I will reschedule the class meeting. Thank you for being patient!

Our Mobymax trophy this week goes to Aziz! Congratulations! Aziz is back on top and no one was even close in minutes to his work! Let’s see if we can get everyone completing their minutes on Mobymax and Lexia this week!

We’re going to continue reading Pax. I thought it would be interesting to find out a little more about foxes.

Watch this:

It’s funny because my son’s dog does that same pounce into the couch when her toy has gotten between the cushions!

Today we will be looking at what are rocks:

and also what is soil:

Now go to Mobymax Science to practice what you learned. Find the lessons about rocks and soil in your assignments and work on these, please.

Math

Your assignment is a worksheet on perimeter and area. Remember, to find perimeter, you add the side lengths of the polygon. Area is all the space inside the figure. To calculate area of a rectangle, you multiply one side length times the other side length and the answer is in square units.

For example: Look at this rectangle:

To find the perimeter, we would count the side lengths. These are in feet. Across the top is 5, down the side if 4, across the bottom is 5 and back up is 4 so 5+4+5+4 = 18 ft.

To find the area, we would take one side(top or bottom)and multiply it by the other side (left or right). So 5 ft. X 4 ft = 20 square feet. Count the squares, is that correct? Yes, it is.

Practice by completing this:
