Last Day of School 2020 – 6/17/20

I cannot believe we have made it all the way here!

The last day of 3rd grade for you (and for me too!)

What a strange year it has been!

Thank you to all my students! In each of your own ways, you tried to keep the learning going! I understand it was a struggle for some depending on their living situations and technology support.

BIG SHOUT OUT to all the parents – you didn’t sign up to be teachers ( Parenting is difficult enough! – just ask my three children!)

SPECIAL HUGS TO SOME MOMS OUT THERE – Raein’s Mom, Jayanna’s Mom, Aziz’s Mom and Khloe’s Mom. Thank you for being my “technology testers and support line” as I tried to navigate “virtual teaching”!

HUGE AMOUNTS OF LOVE to my Lifesize students that always showed up for the class meetings! Raein, Demoine, Jayanna, Aziz, and Khloe.

MORE HIGH FIVES for the CLEVER students who took the time to log on and get lots of work done- Jenziel, Khloe, Jayanna, Za’Niah, Shilynn, Raein, Demoine, Aziz and Mikhail!

I will miss all of you over the summer and you know, Ms. Cullen hates good-byes so our 3rd and 4th grade Virtual Book Club will begin on Wednesday, July 1st. Tell you friends, tell your brothers and sisters, tell your cousins and neighbors – everyone is welcome to our free Book Club. Share this link and sign up before 7/1/2020!

Finally Friday!

Hello my friends!

Since I have been working at school this week, I miss you even more than before! The room is so quiet without your voices!

I miss unzipping Jayanna out of her coat! I miss Raein coming in with his latest snack for lunch and “testing” it before we put it away! I miss Aziz coming in to tell me the latest car that he saw and why it’s so cool! I miss Demoine coming in and happily saying “Good Morning” to everyone! I miss Khloe and her quiet mornings before she woke up! I could go one and on…

Here’s another chapter of Pax so you will have something to do over the weekend! LOL!

You can also log on to Core5 and Mobymax. The minutes you spend on there should continue throughout the summer to keep you in good practice for 4th grade!

Thanks for joining me at the class meeting this morning! We will have one last “official” class meeting next Wednesday! You have to decide by then if you want to be part of our Virtual Summer Book Club by next Wednesday. I’m hoping you will join me!

Fresh and Fufilling Friday 6/5/20

Finally Friday and a long week of unrest after the senseless killing of George Floyd. No one should die  or be treated differently because of the color of their skin. Hopefully, we can have courageous conversations to end racism in the United States. For our kids, Sesame Street is holding a Town Hall Meeting – sounds like a good place to start. Touch picture for:

And Finally Friday and talking about strawberries yesterday jogged my memory of all the fresh fruit and vegetables that you can buy around Buffalo in the summer!

In May, farmers and people begin to plant their crops or gardens. We watched in March how the new growth was just starting to show and now it’s May and we have large leaves covering our trees. Amazing!

You can look at this website:here

to learn more about choosing healthy foods to eat.

Here you can play some healthy habits games!

and here you can find some food groups games!

We can’t forget Pax today…I wonder if Peter will solve his hurt ankle problem?

Chapters 9 and 10

Also, don’t forget to spend some time on Lexia Core5 and Mobymax Math and Science! I’ve been tracking your minutes and we will have a final 1st, 2nd and 3rd place at the end of the year ( in 2 weeks).

Back to strawberries…🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓

Here’s where I go to pick fresh strawberries:

.  Greg’s U-pick Berries

Maybe you should drag your Dad or your Mom or your Grandma and take them to the Berry farm!

You can amaze everyone with your knowledge about strawberries by reading this:
